The Lagos State government has concluded arrangement towards a befitting end of the year and New Year celebrations.
The government gave the indication at a press briefing to herald the 2017 edition of ”One Lagos Fiesta” OLF at the State headquarters, Ikeja.
The special adviser to the governor for Tourism Art and Culture, Mrs Aramide Giwanson explained that event was to bid farewell to a remarkable year and usher in a new year through the music concerts across the State.
“OLF is arguably the largest celebration of crossover into a new year in Nigeria with a record of about 10 million people in attendance. And our intention is to consolidate on the achievement recorded in the previous edition in every respect,” Giwanson stated.
She noted that event would in the long run boost the tourism potentials in the host communities.
According to her, ”it is pertinent to mention that the event is specifically designed to turn the five divisions within the State into tourists’ destinations for eight days and to also develop local economy and make it self- sustaining as economic activities during this period”.
While assuring fun seekers during the event of memorable moments, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde maintained that adequate security has been provided by the government with a seamless and effective traffic management in all the locations of the event.
Ayorinde opined that all the venues will feature upcoming performers, dance and cultural performances with over 100 artistes, cutting across all the genres.
Venues of event
The five designated venues according to him are:
Agege in Agege Staduim.
Babagry in Badagry Grammar School.
Ikorodu in Ikorodu Town Hall.
Epe marine Beach front Epe and Lagos Bar beach as the venue of the earlier seven days (December 24-30, 2017); while Eko Atlantic City will be used on the cross over night, December 31, 2017 to January 1, 2018.
Artistes for event
Some of the Artistes expected to perform include; Olamide, Sunny Ade, Humble Smith, Small Doctor, Adewale Ayuba, Salawa Abeni, Ras Kimono, Pasuma among others.
The event will commence on Sunday, December 24, 2017 and will be held simultaneously in all the five designated locations and will end at the same time in the early hours of January 1, 2018.
